Nitro 200mm IFMAR World Championship 2004, Brasil

Team Serpent in Brasil
The 1/10 scale Nitro Touringcars IFMAR World Championship in Sao Paulo Brasil have just started with some free and lateron controlled practise. Full concentration to find the right balance in set-up, performance, tires, aerodynamics . Also building up rhythm for this special track , finding the right lines and braking points.

Many of the top guns of the rc gas and electric racing scene are on the spot ! Serpent, Mugen, Kyosho, Associated, HPI, Team Magic and more brands all have drivers there.

Around 90 driver have been able to travel to Brasil for this fantastic event. The Brasilians build a brand new track in a very nice park at the outskirts of Sao Paulo. The track is really difficult and a little bit bumpy too, so a big challenge for all the drivers. Banked corners, elevation of more then one meter !

In some cases it has prooven tricky to get all equipment passing through Basilian customs, but most have managed some way J or the other.

For Serpent with the Serpent 710 drivers like Fantini, Green, Salven, Domanin, Duina, Chaussard, Morganti, McNally, Hard, Rinne and many other very talented drivers. Ofcourse also all other brands have their strongest drivers taking part.

From 11 october onwards Serpent will arrange some reports from the Snake pit here on myTSN.com so stay tuned. Hopefully also the organisation will publish some results and images on their website.

Team Serpent will be present at the race to give full support to all Serpent drivers. Rene Cornella will coordinate all this. Some clinics and meetings will be organised to support all drivers to achieve their maximum result. Serpent Team-work will show results !

A number of Serpent drivers will be able to use the new MEGA ZX-12 engines, still in pre-production format. Salven won the 2004 1/10 scale European Championships with this balistic new engine. The final Mega ZX-12 engines will be introduced in november.

It is not allowed to the participants of the World Championship to use the track during the period of 30 days that precedes the World Championship. Starting from September 07, 2004 to October 06, 2004.

Salven has called the factory and informed that all Serpent material has landed on the track safely.
The thursday and friday have both been dry days for practise !

Gume na progi (fuj), nepokošena trava, verjetno WC kar v gozdu...
Opail sem tudi zarjavele cevi, čuden oder, nekam slabo se mi zdi za svetovno...

To je prvenstvo vec že koncano, a? Ko je pa zmagao. Spet taj ko je najbolji sa serpento, a?

Adrian Bertin World Champion

French Kyosho--Sirio driver Adrian Bertin is the first IFMAR World Champion for 1/10 scale 200mm. He drove a flawless and superb race. For the first half hour the race was between Bertin and Cyrul. Cyrul lost a full lap on the tire change, and when later on the side belt went he was out of the top-3. Shimo and Toselini backed up Kyosho's victory with 2nd and 3rd.

Green, who is the first driver to make it from the bottom final into the final, was in 4th position with 20 minutes to go, but was passed by Furukawa and Cyrul to finish 6th.

Salven was charging strong for the first 10 minutes, but was penalized for an overtaking manouvre on Spashett by the referee, which made him loose connection with the top-3. A few late fuelstops and a broken plug put him way back in the field to finish 9th.

2004 IFMAR World Champion Adrian Bertin

Semi finals
From the 7 Serpent drivers only 2 managed to get into the final. Mark Green wrote history by starting at the very bottom final and making the main by winning his semi and to finish 6th overall. Salven had a tough time in his semi fighting for 2nd place behind Spashett, to finish 3rd. The second semio was much faster than the first so the top-4 from the second semi all went on to the main final.

Fantini never got a shot at it with a broken battery connector (!), and team mate Nickie Duina ran into Fantini to break his car. Colombini finished just a few seconds outside a place fror the final. The other Team Serpent drivers McNally and Chaussard were just a bit of the pace to compete for Main final places, but did a great job getting to the semi.

Team Associated had a shot at the Main final with Craig Drescher making a strong charge until a radio hit put his car into the guard rail and putting an end to his quest. Mike Swauger tried hard for Mugen but ran into problems towards the end of the semi.

Team Serpent likes to congratualte the 2004 Worlds organization with hosting the Worlds and want to thank them for all the efforts made. Thanks to everybody in the orgfanization for a great job, wityhout all the hard work and dedication of all these volunteers we would not have World Championships. Special thanks to Sergio ´Boca´ Maraes who initiated this World Championship in Brazil and saw a 20 year old dream come true.

baldy je bil s svojim serpentom šele 7. se mi zdi.

skratka, nikjer serpenta z mego, kyosho s siriotom je pometal s tekmeci!
